Dear All! I, Abdul Sattar Khan have following observations on my subject presentation. 1. Took more time then prescribed. 2. It could have been much better, if I had studied in between the lines. “A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR POLICY ANAYSIS” and
“GUIDE FOR HOW TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS” . 3. The ‘Statistics of Child Labour ‘ would have been discussed first.
4. Charts, graphs and bars would have been prepared for comparison of the statistics of child labour for easy assessment. 5. Reading through slides or script speaks poor grip over the subject and shows unpreparedness. So I should avoid it at all costs. 6. I could not differentiate and explain the criteria of child labour from Pakistan’s and Western point of view, by highlighting the additional care which Pakistani nationals do take for the hired children by extending extra financial support
7. While answering quarries in the end, I was shifting from one statement to another, which I should overcome
8. The color scheming and layout of slides should meet the standards for formal presentations. 9. Evidences should have strong authenticity,ie from research papers, articles, editorials, and organizations and not merely comprise of Google and web sites 10. I should deliver the presentation in good English and should not shift over to Urdu frequently .
“PRESENTATIONS” is actually what we have to present something to listeners, the main purpose is to convey thought and a meaningful lesson to the listeners, a presenter must have the following main characteristics: 1. He/she must be free of tension, 2. must grip on his/her points to convey 3. must have the ability to convey 4. expressed his/her view logically Now Sir, as you said that to share our thoughts & ideas regarding presentations included with missing/mistakes, first of all you gave us a good opportunity to share our views, now I want to share one thing here that I spend more than 28 hours in just preparing slides and report, and thought that it’s a good effort but the main thing or we can say that the main “KEY TO SUCCESS” was neglected by most of the class that is “GUIDE FOR HOW TO MAKE OUR PRESENTATION” (RAND Report), I just go through it but that was not enough, Another thing is most of the students mentioned readings but not mentioned graphs, historical data analysis… etc, I mentioned these things but it was not interlinked, Another thing is it was the very first presentation of most of the students who unable to hold the grip and looking confused including me as well, Another thing is during presentation, we should not code sources like Wikipedia, which was my mistake, Sir on the behalf of the class I want to say that being a student we really work heart and feel that our task is completed well in manner, we can’t see as an instructor, that’s why we are doing mistakes, but after point out our mistakes now we improve our presentations. And one thing more is, no doubt we have mistakes but you should also appreciate our efforts as well.
Students don't ever mention that you made your presentation in 28 hours or 40 hours. This what you have to do and this is your job! It reflects bad on all of you. I know to whom I should appreciate and to whom I don't.
After attending the presentation session in last class I have come to know about following ideas. 1. first of all method of representing myself in a professional way in front of people who already know what I am going to talk about. 2. being policy analysis student I come to know about how to give a problem statement that will create a sense of thinking in the minds of audience that how this problem will be solved or what will be its solution. A problem will be more suitable to address if it is quantified. 3. an evidence to problem must have logic that leave an impression of research in the minds of audience or show a kind of idea that will b authentic in practice . 4. one point be described on only on one slide especially with its quantitative expression in graph ,pie charts or in the form of histogram to justify opinion about facts. 5. before presentation carefully correct the phrases and technical mistakes otherwise these things produce negative impression of one’s ability.
Sir..! I apologized, but I just want to explain that some time we really hard work, but it may become effortless due to our single mistake or missing in our task,.... and nothing else. again sorry...!
During my presentation I haven’t shown graphs but I have only shown their ratios. As for the back ground colour of my slide is concerned I have tried my best but I don’t think whether it was good or not but I selected as I thought that it will be well. As for data collection is concerned I have consulted different books and internet of the related sites to my project. This was our 1st presentation and we all in the class have presented that what can we do. Such presentations are very helpful to bring confidence and to search books and to meet different specialists by asking them questions about the problem. We have to well dressed to meet such people And it seems to be a professional person with such cleaned and ironed dress. In the end we tried our best. AS for presentation is concerned being student we cannot judge others.
Respected sir, thanks for giving us an opportunity for self analysis / critique for own presentation. Main observations made for my presentation are as under 1-I used the word ‘ too much’ in my problem statement where as I should quantify by giving percentage.
2. After studding RAND document I come to know that the colour scheme I use was not according to standard
3. The main point which I miss was the graphic, chart which really attract the audiences attention
From my last presentation,i came to know that its important to make a sequence of what i have to present. that should be clear and precise and should be understandable for audience..
